HÉRÉMENCE, A VILLAGE IN THE HEART OF THE VAL DES DIX AT 1230 METRES ABOVE SEA LEVEL, BOASTS A PRESERVED CHARACTER AND A WILDERNESS SETTING WHERE AN AGE-OLD HERITAGE AND THE BOLDNESS OF MODERN TIMES COEXIST.

The village has preserved its built heritage with its traditional chalets, barns and barns. Stroll through the streets and alleys to discover its picturesque character and local life. Take the time to discover it in complete freedom or discover it under the watchful eye of a local during a guided walk.
The church of Hérémence is as unusual as it is impressive, an architectural masterpiece for an incredible interior visit. Inside, a sound and light presentation explains the particularities of this place. A must not to be missed and a discovery that will not leave you indifferent.
The multi-site museum of Hérémence: its originality lies in its presentation as a discovery circuit through its forge, the mill and common oven, the wine press, an old-fashioned dwelling and a host of domestic objects. More than 3000 objects are on display. A piece of the history of village life in Héremensarde told by our "elders" during the guided tours.
The mill and communal oven: located upstream from the village, the François-Xavier Bagnoud mill is an old restored mill in the valley. The communal oven is adjoining and comes back to life several times a year for the making of bread under the impetus of a few enthusiasts. Free visit all year round and find out when the bread is made.
Old-fashioned living: an immersion in the Valais of yesteryear with this inhabitant who presents a traditional interior with its soapstone and beds with drawers.
The forge dating from the 16th century, which remained active until the 1960s, bears witness to the life of the mountain dwellers before industrialisation.
The wine press, built in the 16th century, is the last of its kind in Valais.
The street-art fresco was created in 2015 by the artist Jasm One. It invites mutual respect between generations. It is the artistic expression of the village's identity between tradition and modernity and is a perfect symbol of this transmission.
The local life and its shops offer a magnificent living environment for the whole of the Hérémensard population with an exceptional quality of life thanks to its geographical location, its natural wealth and its exceptional natural environment.

Half a day will be necessary for you to experience an authentic discovery with so many things to see, experience, smell or feel.
To discover the Hérémensard world in a different way, follow in the footsteps of a local with his good tips and good addresses.
