Staying out of time

THE DISCOVERY OF A VALLEY OF CHARACTER

Less than 3 hours from Zurich, Basel or Bern, 2 hours from Geneva and 1 hour from Lausanne, the Val des Dix (a valley in the heart of the authentic Val d'Hérens) offers many opportunities to experience winter to the full. Whether for sports enthusiasts with downhill skiing, ski touring, Nordic skiing or snowshoe trekking, for contemplatives with a magnificent panorama of the Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn or for culture fans with the rich built heritage of the Alpine villages.

Beyond winter sports and its entry into the largest ski area in Switzerland, the Val des Dix, it is also a history, a culture, a heritage and a rhythm of life different from what one could imagine and experience in the big "snow factory" resorts. A village-resort where it is good to stay all year round. If you want to take your time, breathe in the winter, enjoy winter activities, meet the locals, savour the land, be at the heart of authentic Alpine villages, then you've come to the right place!

WHERE TO STAY, WHERE TO EAT, WHAT TO SEE, WHAT TO DO... ALL THE GOOD THINGS YOU NEED TO DO DURING YOUR STAY ARE HERE!

If you like typical mountain inns, small guesthouses with a resolutely mountain spirit, or accommodation with local people in the heart of picturesque hamlets, you will love staying in the Val des Dix in winter.

The Val des Dix hotel-restaurant. In Pralong, at the foot of the Grande Dixence dam, nestles a pretty wooden building with an old-fashioned charm.
