Pantalons Blancs Refuge

The Pantalons Blancs Igloo Hut is a gift from the Sion Group to all mountaineers seeking tranquillity, new challenges and original routes. May they appreciate it for what it is, in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and respect for the environment. Availability and booking for the igloo can be arranged via the SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) huts website.

It takes around 5 hours to reach it from the Grande Dixence dam. First, follow the path along the lake to La Barmaz. Then follow the ridge of the Rocher du Bouc and make your way onto the Pantalons Blancs glacier. The hut is situated two or three hundred metres along the ridge.

To follow this high-mountain route, you must have a good knowledge of the mountains and be sure-footed. The Rocher du Bouc is sometimes snow-covered or icy. In this case, crampons are essential.

If the Glacier des Ecoulaie is passable, you can follow it to reach the hut. On skis, it is possible to reach Les Pantalons Blancs provided the snow conditions are stable. The final slope below the hut is very steep!!!! It is possible to avoid the slope below the hut by heading to the pass (point 3150) and following the ridge whilst carrying your skis. The refuge is equipped with wood, gas and blankets.
