Hérémence, a village perched on the side of the Dixence Valley at an altitude of 1230 meters, combines traditional authenticity with the modernity of its latest constructions.

Old chalets are located next to recent public buildings and the unqiue concrete church. At the end of the valley stands the impressive Grande-Dixence dam.

Hérémence is a large municipality in the Hérens district, covering an area of ​​10,777 hectares, stretching for nearly 40 km. It almost reaches the Italian border to the south and borders 5 neighbouring municipalities: Vex, Nendaz, Bagnes, Evolène, and Saint-Martin. The lowest point in its territory is located at 690 m on the banks of the Borgne and the highest at 3870 m at the summit of Mont-Blanc de Cheilon.

A population of approximately 1300 inhabitants is distributed among the following 12 villages and hamlets: Hérémence, Euseigne, Mâche, Riod, Prolin, Ayer, Cerise, La Grangette, La Crettaz, La Combaz, Le Sauterôt and Pralong.
