The vast territory of Hérémence is made up of a string of traditional villages that would undoubtedly deserve a place among the most beautiful villages in Switzerland. From Mâche to Euseigne via Prolin, Cerise, Ayer, Riod: hamlets where time seems to have stood still. Stories and anecdotes
  • Euseigne, known for its Pyramids, has experienced two fires, in 1800 and again in 1917. 107 buildings perished in the flames leaving more than 50 families homeless. According to the legend, you don't want a 3rd time! It is said that the third time Euseigne burns, the rocks will open and the village will collapse. 
  • Do you remember the name of the cafe in Prolin where young people liked to meet at weekends? And if not, do you know what the inhabitants of Prolin are called? "lé j'orfelin" the orphans in patois.
  • Did you know that in the 1900s, the mayens of Pralong were known as a summer resort and welcomed its tourists at the Mont-Pleureur hotel with its 30 rooms. 
  • Do you know Riod, the hamlet where Edouard Vallet stayed in 1911-12. It was from here that he painted many pictures of the landscape and the people of the area. 
  • Did you know that Le Déserteur left many traces of his exile in the region?
